Serving a Montréal customer in Frenchshould not be a per-seat upgrade.

In Québec, the Charter of the French language gives consumers the right to be informed and served in French, and a support chat is one of the places that lands. Intercom is billed per seat in US dollars, with AI resolutions charged on top. Omnilo is a flat Canadian monthly price with two-way translation across more than 133 languages included on every tier.

Why the billing model matters more here

Under per-seat pricing, the answer to “we need someone who can reply in French” is another seat. In Montréal that is rarely the end of it: a business is answering in French and in English, and often in a third language its owner does not read at all.

A flat monthly price does not have an opinion about how many people are answering or which language they answer in. Omnilo lists at C$20 to C$49.99 a month, flat, with no per-seat billing and no per-resolution charge — so language coverage is not a line item that grows every time your customer base does.

What the translation actually does

A customer writes in French. Whoever is on the other end reads it in the language they work in, replies in that language, and the customer receives the reply in French. It runs in both directions, on every tier, across more than 133 languages, and it is included rather than sold as an add-on.

It is machine translation, which is the right tool for a support conversation and the wrong tool for a contract. Fast, good enough to answer a question about hours or a return, and not a substitute for a human translator on anything that has to be exact.

Where it is built

Omnilo is built, hosted and supported in Canada, by RKP Atlantic Business Services in New Brunswick, and billed in Canadian dollars. It is a chat widget with live two-way translation, team routing and away-hours handling — not a payment for a US subscription that arrives on your statement in a currency you do not sell in.

Two honest caveats. This page describes Québec's language rules in general terms and is not legal advice — the Office québécois de la langue française is the authority on what applies to your business. And Intercom is a full support platform: help centre, product tours, ticketing. Omnilo is a chat widget with translation and routing. If you run Intercom as your entire support stack, this is not a like-for-like replacement.
